Faith in Predestiny: Dejection due to having daughters instead of sons

Question
Allaah grants some people daughters instead of sons and every time some men receive the glad tidings of the birth of a newborn daughter, they become annoyed and begin quarreling with their wives. Some husbands even threaten their wives with divorce if they give birth to another daughter! What advice do you have for such husbands?
Answer

Firstly, such men must fear Allaah  and know with certainty that this is from           Allaah  and that all good is in that which Allaah  chooses. A person doesn’t know whether it is more beneficial for him to have daughters or sons. In many cases daughters are more beneficial [to their parents] than sons. Such men must not imitate the people of pre-Islamic ignorance of the times of old about whom Allaah says,

… and when one of them is informed of the birth of a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief. He hides himself from the people because of the ill of which he has been informed. Should he keep it in humiliation or bury it in the ground?
Unquestionably, evil is what they decide.
” (AN-Nahl 58-59)

Islaam encourages raising daughters and gives glad tidings for whoever does so of being protected from the Hellfire and accompanying the Prophet ﷺ in Allaah’s Garden. It is reported in the authentic hadeeth compolation by Muslim in the hadeeth narrated by Anas Ibn Maalik  that Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said,

Whoever raises two girls until they grow up will come together with me on the Day of Resurrection as such and he demonstrated by placing two of his fingers next to one another.” (Muslim 2631)

‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah’s Pleasure be upon her), the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, said, “A woman came to me with her two daughters asking for food and I did not find anything [in my house] except one date so I gave it to her. She took it, split it in half, and gave half to each of her daughters, and did not eat anything herself. Then she stood up and left with her daughters. Then the Prophet ﷺ came home and I told him about the woman, to which he replied,

Whoever is tested with anything of daughters and treats them well, they will be a barrier protecting him from the Fire.’” (Bukhaary 1418 and Muslim 2629)

and the hadeeth is agreed upon. A woman who was abandoned by her husband because she only gave birth to daughters said the following lines of poetry,

What’s wrong with Abu Hamzah that he does not visit us?
He remains in the house next door to us!
He’s angry because I do not give birth to sons!
By Allaah, that affair is not in my hands!

She spoke the truth! This is out of our control and is only in the Hands of Allaah . It is a must that people pleasantly accept and submit to what Allaah has written and decreed for them.
