A person who intends to visit the Prophet ﷺ’s mosque without any additional intentions enters into the Text certainly, as long as he is not harmed or does not harm others. This is a good intention without an issue in. The person may intend to enter the rawdhah to pray, supplicate, or recite the Qur’aan there. Indeed, it has a virtue above other places. The Prophet ﷺ said,
“Between my house and my pulpit is a rawdhah from Allaah’s rawdhahs!’ (Bukhaary 1195)
A person who says, ’Indeed, this is just news and there is nothing legislated regarding this subject!,’ is nullifying the Text. What is the point of the report then?! This is so when the Messenger ﷺ said,
“If you pass by a rawdhah of Allaah’s Garden, jannah, stop!”
He was asked, ‘What is a rawdhah of jannah?’ He replied,
‘A gathering of remembering Allaah!’ (Al-Musnad 12,523)
This is an individual hadeeth, and mentioning a general individual report does not necessitate specification. Thus, what is between the Prophet’s house and the pulpit is a rawdhah of jannah, and we have to stop there as the Prophet ﷺ ordered us to do so. A person may say, ‘There are some reports that some rivers are among those in jannah,
“The rivers Sayhaan, Jayhaan, Al-Furaat, and AN-Neel are rivers from jannah!” (Muslim 2839)
However, do these have virtues above others? We say, ‘The Messenger ﷺ did not say, ‘If you pass by the jannah rivers, wash or make ablution.’ If he did so, we would have made ablution, or wash there. However, regarding the rawdhah, he said,
“If you pass by a rawdhah of jannah, stop!”
At the same time, some issues should be taken into consideration, which are not harming others, or not being harmed, because harm is forbidden. Also, a person’s heart must be attendant like in other places, because some people intend to go to this place without understanding anything from their worship. Thus, we say, ‘In this case, it is better for you to stay away!’ This is because the reward resulting from actual worship is more deserving to be concerned with, rather than the reward for performing in in a certain place. Also, some innovators perform some innovations and when they see a person upon the Sunnah going to the place often, their adherence to their innovations and seeking Blessing from the place, will increase, and they will follow the person’s example, and they will wipe over the place, and wish for Blessing from the place. If such people do not receive any clarification, and the fact that intending to go to the rawdhah for mere prayer, remembering Allaah, or supplicating, no doubt, indeed, closing off the doors is more befitting.
