Remembrance of Allaah: Establishing circles of remembrance of Allaah at home

Question
We hope you can advise our listeners to establish circles of remembrance of Allaah in their homes, however short, and even if not more than 10 minutes. This would lead to angels enter the homes, and thereby the evil jin leave. The homes of the believers are full of evil jin due to the lack of remembrance of Allaah. The intention is to recite some aayahs of the Qur’aan and some hadeeths.
Answer

: In the statement of Allaah ,

“O you who believe, protect yourselves and your families against a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are appointed angels, harsh and severe…”
(AT-Tahreem 6),

It has been narrated in exegesis which uses mainly reports of the righteous predecessors, ‘Aly ibn Abu Ttaalib  said, ‘Protect yourselves with knowledge!’ It is through knowledge one protects oneself from the Fire

“… whose fuel is people and stones…”

Likewise, one protects their family from it; so when he learns and strives to teach his family beneficial knowledge, which will be a means for them being protected from Allaah’s Punishment of the Fire whose “… fuel is people and stones...” Undoubtedly, this is a means for their uprightness through which it is hoped their supplications will be answered, as is reported in the authentic hadeeth,

“When a person dies, all his deeds come to an end except for three…”,

one being,

… a righteous child who will supplicate for him.” (Tirmithy 1376)

Thus, if a person becomes the means to teach his child beneficial knowledge, and likewise for the wife, and children in general, male or female, this will be a means of them becoming upright, and their supplications being answered. Moreover, there is in Allaah ’s Words,

(وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱرْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِى صَغِيرًۭا)
… and say, ‘Lord, have Mercy upon them just as they brought me up when I was little.” (Al-Israa’ 24),

the supplication for Mercy was because of nurturing the child during childhood and raising them upon righteousness. The understanding from this is that those who do not raise their children upon righteousness, then such a supplication for the parent may not be answered. Without doubt, the nurturing and upbringing upon righteousness and what was mentioned in the question regarding holding circles of Remembrance of Allaah in the homes, even if they are short, is beneficial, reminds them of Allaah, and helps to bring about goodness and ward off evil. Surely, Remembrance of Allaah brings about tranquillity of the heart.

(أَلا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ)
Unquestionably, through the Remembrance of Allaah hearts are assured.” (AR-Ra’d 28)

Without doubt, if this is so through reciting aayahs of Allaah’s Book, hadeeths of the Sunnah of the chosen one ﷺ, and some of the words of scholars in clarifying and helping to understand the words, such matters assist a person to worship generally, worship Allaah upon insight, and raise his children upon goodness and uprightness. Surely, homes that are deprived of the Remembrance of Allaah, instead of angels entering them, the alternative is jinn, especially if there is found actions facilitating the latter, of false speech, music, and photos. Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a photo (Bukhaary 3322). Unfortunately, dogs are found in Muslim homes and into these angels do not enter. This means evil jin, just as they have photos, and also music and musical instruments. All of these prevent angels entering, and help is sought from Allaah. A person should strive to make his home a shelter for goodness, whether they are from the children of Aadam or others, as opposed to when his home a shelter for evil. He should strive to only have pious people eat from his food in order to help them obey Allaah. Undoubtedly, if such circles of Remembrance of Allaah are found, even if short, as aforementioned, they are good and among that which helps to protect a person against Allaah ’s Punishment as has been stated in the aayah of Soorah AT-Tahreem, and Allaah knows best.
